Ideally, you should plan to visit both.

What is the landscape difference?

Tianmen is a massive single karst mountain, while the National Forest Park is a vast area of sandstone pillars.

Tianmen Mountain dominates the downtown skyline with steep karst cliffs. It features the massive Tianmen Cave arch, which is 131.5 meters (431 ft) tall. The National Forest Park, often called the Avatar Mountain scenery, contains thousands of freestanding stone columns.

Which park has better man-made attractions?

Tianmen Mountain focuses heavily on modern engineering and high-altitude thrills.

At Tianmen, you experience massive infrastructure projects built directly into the cliffs. Visitors ride a 7,455-meter (24,459 ft) cableway from the city. The summit features glass skywalks bolted 1,430 meters above sea level and a 7-section escalator inside the rock.

Tianmen Mountain follows strict A, B, and C transport routes. You can complete the cliff paths, the 999 steep stone steps, and the 99-Bend Road in six to eight hours. The National Forest Park covers a much larger geographic area.
